We are excited to welcome Chef César Becerril to 623 Venue & Events. César’s culinary career began at a very early age, and originated in his family’s kitchen. His father taught César basic culinary and knife skills, the same skillset that César utilizes today. He started working in an elevated kitchen at the former Reserve Wine & Food prior to COVID, under tutelage of Chefs Luke VerHulst and Miriam Geenen. He was formerly the Sous Chef at Donkey Taqueria in Heritage Hills / East Hills, and then transitioned to assist Chef Stephen Kolavo open Eastern Kille Distillery in Rockford. He joined the team at Gin Gins off of Bridge Street during their inaugural first season as well.

César currently resides on the west side of the state, and works for iconic Event Venue Farrand Hall, in Colon, Michigan.

Masa is a dining experience rooted in Mexican Heritage, bringing communities together through ancestral flavors, stories, and meals. The concept and origin of Masa was created as an expressive culinary outlet for César, and has been his pop-up style dinner experience for the last several years. He is excited to share this culinary vision in a seated, coursed, progressive dinner, the first of it’s kind! We hope to taste and share this space numerous times with Masa in the future!

Stephen Kolavo Dinner

We are excited to welcome Stephen Kolavo to 623 Venue & Events for a very special 5-course dinner with wine pairing. This menu is inventive & seasonally inspired, and showcases Chef Stephen’s playful character. It’s going to be an incredible night, and we can’t wait to host this Event!!

Tickets are available for purchase!!! This event will run from 6:00pm - 10:00pm.

Stephen Kolavo is a locally renowned chef that is currently working within the shared, commercial Cloud Kitchen, ChefShack, as a chef for Cou Cou Bakehouse.

As a Chicago native, Stephen has worked for some incredible hospitality groups in the greater Chicago area - including Publican Quality Bread, and the formerly open Quiote in Logan’s Square. Stephen helped open Anemel in Benton Harbor, Michigan, as well as the new Eastern Kille Distillery location in Rockford, Michigan. Stephen resides in the Highland Park Grand Rapids community with his wife, Megan, and their newborn daughter, Lila.

We are elated to host our new friends at Green Fork Foods ! We are elated to introduce Chef John - Culinary Director, Owner & Executive Chef, alongside Chef Tiphani - Creative Director, Co-Owner & Executive Sous Chef. As two friends who shared a passion for food, and bringing people together with cooking a good meal for their friends and family wanted to expand on their core values and wanted to give more than the industry was able to give.

The name Green Fork Food represents the core values of what John & Tiphani wanted to bring to the table with their company.
Food that is locally-sourced, health conscious and as environmentally conscious as possible ; menus that fit everyone's palette ; exploring the creative side of food. Their end goal is to bring a Farm-to-Table experience with a twist of fine dining.

You can find them working out of their mobile kitchen or at @chefshackgr in East Grand Rapids.

Tickets will be available for purchase beginning in June, under the EVENTS page! This event will run from 6:00 - 10:00pm.

Song Bird and Song Bird Market is a working market-style pop-up shop, curated and driven by Chef Daren Palacios. Daren now resides in Detroit, and is working for the renowned culinary powerhouse, Backbone Hospitality Group, which owns Marrow, Marrow Provisions Detroit, The Royce, and Mink.
